Jose Bono Rovirosa has been writing poetry since he has memory. His first published poem was when he was 7 years old (Playing in the mud). He writes in Spanish and English. His first book of poems, Very Chicago Selected Poetry (1999), won the 2000 Prix du Chateau de la Grange, English and Spanish First Prizes at the Concours Littéraire International, Centre Européen pour la Promotion des Arts el des Lettres (CEPAL), in Thionville, France. His second book, Epik Poems from Korea and a Story (2009), won the 2009 International Writers and Artists Association prize, in Ottawa Hills, OH, for Best Book of Poetry and Prose. He is currently married, living in Al Ain, UAE, and teaching high school English at Shakhbout Bin Sultan Secondary School for the Abu Dhabi Education Council.
